Moscow and the Moscow region were attacked by drones on the morning of 17 October. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, claimed that 75 UAVs heading for the city had allegedly been destroyed.
According to Sobyanin, emergency services are working at the sites where debris fell. At the same time, he did not specify whether any drones reached their targets.
Because of the attack, Moscow’s airports restricted the arrival and departure of flights. According to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports were closed overnight and on the morning of 17 October.
Telegram channels reported flight delays, aircraft being diverted to other regions, and passengers facing long waits.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence also claimed that 610 drones were allegedly intercepted overnight over 15 regions of Russia, including the Moscow and Leningrad regions.
