On the night of 6 October, the Moscow Region came under a major drone attack. The shelling lasted for at least several hours, the ASTRA channel reports.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 105 drones were shot down on their approach to Moscow, and that 650 UAVs in total were heading towards the region. Witnesses posted footage of drones, air-defence activity and smoke.
ASTRA’s OSINT analysis indicates that one of the fires broke out at the region’s largest oil depot — the Volodarskaya line production and dispatch station (LPDS). Previously, there had been no information about attacks on it, although Ukrainians have targeted the Moscow Region’s oil infrastructure before.
The Volodarskaya LPDS has a throughput of 3 million tonnes of petroleum products a year. It receives feedstock from the Moscow and Ryazan refineries, and an extensive petroleum-products network links the station with airports in the Moscow hub (Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and others).
Exilenova+ reports that, according to witnesses, two tanks are on fire.
