Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The two discussed strengthening Ukraine’s protection against Russian attacks using jet-powered “Shahed” drones.
The head of state shared the details on his social media.
According to Zelenskyy, a significant proportion of the jet-powered drones are being shot down by F-16 fighter jets that the Netherlands has supplied to Ukraine. He noted that there are opportunities to further support the aircraft’s operations with appropriate equipment.
The sides also discussed other options for protecting critical infrastructure and strengthening air defence.
Separately, Zelenskyy briefed Jetten on contacts between the Ukrainian side and the US team, as well as possible technical-level meetings in a trilateral format involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia.
“Realistic proposals that can bring peace closer are important. But it is necessary for Russia to take negotiations seriously and not try to find ever new pretexts to drag the war on,” the President said.
Zelenskyy thanked the Dutch Prime Minister and the country for supporting Ukraine.
- The Netherlands will allocate €10 million for the training of Ukrainian service personnel in Ukraine. The country is also providing Ukraine with an additional €327 million for reconstruction. The funds will be directed towards repairing the energy system, restoring critical infrastructure, and more.
