In Zakarpattia Region, border guards from the Chop Detachment discovered smuggled cigarettes on a freight train, according to a State Border Guard Service of Ukraine press release.
The cigarettes were found during an inspection of a freight train travelling from Ukraine to Slovakia via the “Pavlovo” border crossing point.
The “Uzhhorod–Matovce” train was carrying 45 wagons of iron ore pellets.
While checking one of the wagons, an inspection team together with operational officers found 4,000 packs of cigarettes in the cargo without Ukrainian excise tax stamps.
The inspection of the train is ongoing. Border guards are establishing all the circumstances of the offence.
