In Kyiv, the Pivdennyi Bridge was damaged in a ballistic attack overnight on 27 October.
Specialists are assessing the extent of the damage. Traffic on the bridge is currently closed, Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said on Facebook.
“Train service between the Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations on the green metro line has also been suspended,” the statement said.
During the first wave of the attack, after 9pm, the metro was damaged between the Darnytsia and Chernihivska stations, as well as at exits from Lisova. The entire “red” line is now operating normally.
“Metro specialists worked through the night to ensure services at all stations,” Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said.
Changes to Kyiv Transport Services
Green line: trains are not running between the Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations.
Bus No. 72 is operating with changes on Novokostiantynivska Street in both directions due to a police road closure. Services are organised as follows:
- towards Kontraktova Ploshcha metro station: Tulchynska Street – Kyrylivska Street – Mykoly Kravchenka Street – then along its usual route;
- towards the Synioozernyi residential area: Mykoly Kravchenka Street – Kyrylivska Street – then along its usual route.
Fifteen vehicles will operate on the temporary bus route No. 1-M.
Bus routes Nos. 22 and 91 are also being rerouted due to the closure of the Pivdennyi Bridge. To maintain passenger services, these routes will be organised via the Darnytskyi Bridge. On route No. 22, the number of buses will be increased by four, bringing the total to 14. At the same time, five buses will run on a shortened section from Trostianetska Street to Lybidska metro station.
- As a result of the Russian ballistic strike, one person was killed and 14 were injured across both waves of missiles. Those affected include university students. A missile hit their campus near Kyoto Park.
- Both the Pivdennyi Bridge and the infrastructure of the metro’s “red” line had already been damaged in attacks in September and October.
