From 03:00 on 27 October Kyiv time, Ukraine will introduce a ceasefire in a designated area to carry out a humanitarian operation in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in Kherson Region.
The General Staff reported this.
The ceasefire is being introduced exclusively for the humanitarian operation: delivering aid to residents who are currently in the town, and preparing for the free movement of civilians out of Oleshky.
Everyone is urged during this period to be especially cautious about the information they receive and share, and to rely on official sources.
People should not trust unverified reports. They should also refrain from spreading rumours about the routes, timing and locations of the movement of people and humanitarian convoys.
Ukraine’s Defence Forces are doing everything possible to help the residents of Oleshky and will ensure the implementation of the relevant decisions to guarantee security and save Ukrainians, the General Staff emphasised.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the American side had proposed a ceasefire in the area of Oleshky in Kherson Region, occupied by Russia, from 27 October.
- Before that, Ukraine and Russia agreed the timing of a ceasefire to carry out a humanitarian mission in Oleshky. The ceasefire is due to begin on 27 October at 03:00 Kyiv time. The Russian side said the ceasefire would take effect from 04:00 on 27 October Moscow time, which corresponds to 03:00 in Kyiv.
- US First Lady Melania Trump and her representative were involved in agreeing the ceasefire terms, working directly with the leadership of Ukraine and Russia. She did not rule out a personal visit to Ukraine.
- About 1,700 people remain trapped in the devastated town of Oleshky in Kherson Region, and Russia is trying to turn the settlement into a deadly trap. Ukraine has repeatedly called for safe evacuation and international humanitarian access. Russia is ignoring these calls.
