A Kyiv resident will stand trial for selling non-existent drone parts.
For fraud, the suspect faces up to eight years in prison, Kyiv police reported.
Investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department, together with the cyber police, exposed the suspect in July this year.
The investigation found that the Kyiv resident posted adverts on social media offering to sell components for UAVs. In reality, he did not have the required goods, but assured buyers they were available and demanded full prepayment.
To cover his tracks and make it harder to trace the money, the fraudster involved other individuals registered as sole traders. Victims transferred payment for orders to their bank accounts.
Using this scheme, the suspect defrauded a volunteer — a former serviceman. The man ordered components for drones for the needs of the military and transferred almost 900,000 hryvnias.
Investigators have now completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to court under the article on fraud committed by a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy on an especially large scale.
