Konotop in Sumy region has been without electricity for a fifth day after a Russian attack on an energy infrastructure facility. The city’s critical infrastructure is operating on backup power sources, and resilience centres have also been set up.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi after a conversation with the Mayor of Konotop.
According to the Prime Minister, he instructed the Ministry of Energy, together with Ukrenergo, to urgently look into the situation and restore the city’s electricity supply as quickly as possible.
Separately, the government will already today provide Konotop with the necessary reserve of diesel fuel for alternative power sources. It is needed to keep the boiler house and the water utility operating.
- On the night of 24 October, Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack on the Konotop community in Sumy region. Energy infrastructure facilities, a school and private homes were hit.
