The village of Barylivka in Sumy Region remains under the control of Ukraine’s Defence Forces. Claims by Russian troops that it has been captured are untrue.
This was reported by the communications department of the 8th Air Assault Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, near Barylivka the Russians did not even attempt to carry out assault operations. The purported offensive by Russia’s 41st Motor Rifle Regiment, Ukrainian defenders said, existed only in Russian Telegram channels and comments.
The 8th Air Assault Corps suggests the spread of such claims is linked to the Russian command’s need to report supposedly captured Ukrainian settlements by the end of October.
“We advise the ‘Sever’ grouping not to stop at Barylivka. By 31 October you still have time to ‘liberate’ Kyiv,” Ukrainian troops quipped.
- Earlier, the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade “Magura” also denied claims by Russia’s Defence Ministry that it had supposedly captured the village of Maryine in Sumy Region. Ukrainian troops stressed that the settlement remains fully under the control of the Defence Forces, and that the brigade’s fighters continue to hold their positions and carry out combat missions.
