Urgent works and inspections of damaged structures are continuing on the Pivdennyi Bridge in Kyiv following the Russian attack on 27 October.

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).

As a result of the hostile strike, elements of the bridge were damaged, including the reinforced-concrete superstructure spans, road carriageways, metro structures and engineering utilities.

Kyivavtoshliakhmist municipal enterprise is carrying out urgent work in sections where no critical damage has been identified.

The city metro has restored essential power-supply cable networks, signalling and communications, as well as train services between the Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations. Restoration of other engineering networks is ongoing.

“Specialists from municipal enterprises are working around the clock. In parallel, specialised research institutes are conducting dynamic tests, geodetic monitoring of deformations, monitoring the development of defects, and verification calculations,” the KCSA said.

The city administration expects to receive an inspection report with the study results at the beginning of next week. After that, technical decisions will be taken on further restoration of the Pivdennyi Bridge and the above-ground section of the metro’s Green Line.

  • The Pivdennyi and Pivnichnyi bridges in Kyiv were also hit by Russian strikes in September. In addition, a Russian strike damaged the Chernihivska metro station. The station itself sustained significant damage, and part of the tracks was also put out of service. Trains currently pass through this station without stopping.
