The Dutch government is providing €1.2 billion in non-military assistance to Ukraine over the next three years.

This is stated on the Dutch government’s website.

The new package is intended to meet the country’s most urgent needs, support reconstruction and expand opportunities for Dutch business.

The main focus is on supporting the energy sector, water supply and entrepreneurship. This was announced during a visit to Kyiv by the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma. He stressed that Ukraine is under bombardment and heading into a harsh winter, so supporting its resilience is important for the security of the whole of Europe.

As part of the package, the Netherlands is allocating €40 million this year for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The funds will be directed towards urgent repairs to energy facilities that are under constant Russian attack. A further €55 million will go towards the purchase and transfer of equipment from Dutch companies.

During the visit to Kyiv, together with the head of the VNO-NCW business association, Coen van Oostrom, the Dutch minister discussed strengthening business ties with representatives of the Ukrainian government. The Dutch government is allocating €136 million to support companies through the Ukraine Partnership Facility programme, and is also increasing export credit insurance cover by €19.5 million to reduce risks for business.

In addition, the Netherlands and Ukraine signed a memorandum of intent to allocate €10 million for the supply of equipment and the restoration of production capacity at Ukrainian enterprises.

The Netherlands will also continue to fund the search for and support of abducted Ukrainian children through the UN, housing reconstruction, humanitarian aid, healthcare, demining and the preservation of cultural heritage.
