The High Anti-Corruption Court has reduced the amount of bail for a deputy head of a unit at the Prosecutor General’s Office and two other suspects.
“Investigating judges of the HACC, having considered motions by NABU detectives approved by an SAP prosecutor, extended the period of pre-trial detention for a further two months for three members of a criminal organisation that operated within the Prosecutor General’s Office,” they said.
The suspects are a deputy head of a unit at the Prosecutor General’s Office, who is believed to have led the criminal organisation, his accomplice Muza, and a trusted associate.
The court partially granted the defence’s motion and reduced the amount of bail for the suspects:
- The Prosecutor General’s Office official – from UAH 120 million to UAH 93 million;
- his accomplice – from UAH 20 million to UAH 15 million;
- the trusted associate – from UAH 15 million to UAH 11.6 million.
Case details
- On 4 September, NABU and the SAP announced a special operation to expose a criminal organisation led by an official of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. According to NABU and the SAP, members of the organisation, created in 2025, may be involved in providing “protection” to a network of fraudulent call centres and in laundering assets.
- The charges are Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (establishing and leading a criminal organisation, as well as participation in it) and Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (legalisation (laundering) of property). In the suspects’ conversations, a “Boss” is also mentioned – a person who directed Kropyva. As of now, this person has not been formally notified of suspicion. Ruslan Kravchenko submitted his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General. In audio recordings released by NABU, Kropyva discussed his boss. Officially, Kravchenko has not been served with a notice of suspicion. In September, it became known that Kravchenko left the country under the pretext of a business trip. Only after that did the President suspend him, and the Verkhovna Rada backed his full dismissal. Kravchenko never returned from the “business trip”.
- In late October, suspicion was announced against another member of the criminal organisation exposed as part of the large-scale special operation “Carthage”. This concerns the former head of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
