During a visit to Turkey, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the prospects for holding a trilateral meeting and possible formats for involving Turkey, Europe and other partners in negotiations.

Zelenskyy said this at a joint press conference with Erdoğan.

“We discussed the prospects for such a format and other possibilities, including involving Turkey, Europe and all partners, as well as the possibility of a meeting here in Turkey,” the Ukrainian president explained.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia must receive signals at all levels that there is no alternative to peace, and that pressure on it must continue.

The Ukrainian president also spoke about the humanitarian operation in Oleshky and thanked Erdoğan for his support. He noted that the situation demonstrates the possibility of de-escalation when Russia is placed in conditions in which it is forced to take appropriate steps.

  • Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he expects the trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia to take place on 6–10 November. It is preliminarily planned to be held in Abu Dhabi, but due to a possible escalation in the Middle East, the venue of the talks may be changed without moving the agreed dates.
  • The head of state said this during a press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. According to the president, Ukraine expects the American side to be ready after 4 November. To prepare for the leaders’ meeting, he said, one or two meetings of technical teams may be sufficient.
