Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed preparations with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) for a trilateral meeting scheduled for next week in Abu Dhabi. The Ukrainian side has already submitted its proposals to the United States on possible outcomes of the talks.
He said this in a Facebook post.
“We believe the meeting in the Emirates must deliver results, and we have passed our proposals for real potential outcomes to the American side,” the president noted.
According to him, preparations for the trilateral meeting involved a series of contacts. In particular, a meeting took place in Brussels with NATO and European partners, Zelenskyy held talks with representatives of the US president, and there was ongoing communication between the negotiating teams.
Separately, the participants agreed that European security issues must be discussed with the involvement of European countries, which, the president said, equally deserve guaranteed security.
Zelenskyy also briefed partners on Ukraine’s needs ahead of winter, in particular support for the energy sector and strengthening air defences.
“I briefed them on our needs ahead of this winter: energy and, of course, air defence. Thank you for your readiness to help. We will continue coordination and detailed alignment of our shared strong positions,” the head of state stressed.
The call was attended by the prime ministers of Estonia, Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Norway and Sweden, as well as the presidents of Finland and Lithuania.
