The National Anticorruption Bureau and the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office have said it was their jurisdiction to detain Deputy Health Minister Roman Vasylyshyn when he was accepting a bribe, not that of the Prosecutor-General's Office. They said that violation of jurisdiction may undermine the case in court.
The two agencies said that his detention is category A while the crime for which the Kyiv prosecutor's office is holding a pre-trial investigation is an act of corruption, which means it should be their jurisdiction.
They are concerned he may avoid punishment if evidence against him is invalidated over intrusion in the wrong jurisdiction.
