President Petro Poroshenko has emphasized that the issue of NATO membership will be decided by Ukrainians: "Ukrainians will decide what to do in the future", according to his official website.

"We believe that we should carry out necessary reforms and work hard," President Petro Poroshenko said in the course of the joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

President Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the issue of NATO membership will be decided by Ukrainians: "Ukrainians will decide what to do in the future".

According to the president, the prospect of NATO membership is supported by 53 per cent of Ukrainians. The president called it a "real result of changes in the Ukrainian society".

In his turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that the Alliance would continue supporting Ukraine.

"Today, the issue is whether Ukraine will achieve the NATO standards and implement the reforms that will increase compatibility between our Armed Forces," Jens Stoltenberg said.
