Verkhovna Rada deputy Henadiy Bobov (Renaissance) reported having paid about 38mn hryvnia in back taxes after the Prosecutor General's Office asked the parliament to strip him of immunity.
"This morning, I transferred all the funds to the state budget in accordance with the requirements of the representatives of the state. I have thus fulfilled my obligations in full. Although I didagree with them, I act and will act solely within the law," the lawmaker wrote on Facebook on Friday and posted the copies of 38mn hryvnia payment orders dated 26 May.
Earlier this week, the General Prosecutor's Office asked the parliament to remove the immunity from Bobov on suspicion of tax evasion and the declaration of unreliable information.
Bobov is maybe the riches deputy in this parliament. In 2016, he has declared owning 100mn hryvnia and 2.5mn dollars in cash.
