Petro Poroshenko next week will hold a meeting with the US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, Ukrainian internet publication Yevropeyska Pravda reported Wednesday with a reference to several sources in diplomatic circles.
"It will be a full-fledged state visit of Poroshenko to Washington, which will include meetings with key people, including President Trump," one of the sources said.
"The date has been agreed. The visit will be held in June, in the near future," another diplomat said. The third official assured that the meeting of the presidents is scheduled for the next week.
A VOA editor in Washigton, Myroslava Gongadze, said on Twitter that the visit was expected to be announced shortly.
The presidential administration has issued no officially announcement regarding the visit yet.
Late last year, deputy head of the presidential administration, Kostyantyn Yeliseyev said that the presidents of Ukraine and the US Petro Poroshenko and Donald Trump could meet in February 2017.
On 15 November, 2016 Poroshenko talked with Trump on the phone. He congratulated the US President on his election to this post and invited him to visit Kyiv.
