A Ukrainian serviceman sustained a fragmentation wound during a grenade launcher attack by Russia-backed militants near Pisky, the Joint Forces Operation HQ has said. Ukrainian troops returned fire.

Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) found a cache containing arms and explosives during a drill in Rivne Region, close to Ukraine's border with Belarus. The cache contained two RPG-26 anti-tank grenades, eight RGD-5 hand grenades and fuses, 5 kg of explosives, two AK-74 cartridges, 170 5.45 and 7.62 bullets.

Police

The Interior Ministry will push for a pay rise for police officers, its head Denys Monastyrskyy has said. He noted that low salary is one of the factors forcing officers to change jobs.

Nord Stream 2

Olena Zerkal, an advisor to the Ukrainian energy minister, has said that Russian Gazprom's stated plans to start pumping gas along the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as soon as in October are detached from reality. The pipeline cannot be launched in operation until it is certified as an independent gas transport operator, she added.
