Zelenskyy's US visit

Washington has requested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit be delayed by one day, until 1 September, due to the situation in Afghanistan, Zelenskyy's press secretary Serhiy Nykyforov has said. He explained that the USA was to end evacuation by 31 September, as demanded by the Taliban.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will bring along the lists of imprisoned and missing Ukrainians in Donbs and Crimea, according to ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova. Zelenskyy and Joe Biden will discuss the issues of their return and exchange on 1 September.

Afghanistan

A plane carrying Afghan translators, including one who worked for The Globe and Mail and another who served the Canadian military, as well as their families, has arrived in Kyiv following a daring operation by Ukrainian soldiers stationed at Kabul airport.

"The Ukrainian operation succeeded where others had collapsed because the Ukrainian military deployed special forces troops into the city on foot to conduct the rescue," The Globe and Mail said. Donbas

Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded amid nine ceasefire violations by Russia-backed militants on 29 August, the Joint Forces Operation has said.

Three more ceasefire violations were registered from midnight to 6 p.m. on 30 August.

Parliament speaker Dmytro Razumkov paid a working visit to Donbas to check on the situation in the Joint Forces Operation area. He condemned the recent shelling of Avdiivka, noting that "only Ukraine delivers on its commitments and truly observes what was agreed in Minsk [ceasefire]".

Space

The British company Spacebit, in cooperation with American partners, will carry out the first Ukrainian mission to the Moon in 2022, within the framework of which equipment for scientific research will be delivered to the satellite surface, Ukrinform has reported, quoting Pavlo Tanasyuk, the company's founder and CEO.
