Scoop of the day: President to give half-term presser; Kyiv ex-mayor dies

International forum

Kyiv's Opera Hotel will host an international forum entitled "Korea-Ukraine. Brainstorm – Healthcare Challenges in the 21st century" on 30 November. The event is organised by Gorshenin Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine with support from LB.ua.

Ukraine-Germany contacts

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the security situation in Donbas and steps Kyiv has been taking to settle the situation. They agreed on the need to coordinate international efforts to localise Russian threat and maintain sanction policy, Zelenskyy's office has said.

President's presser

President Zelenskyy will hold a three-year-long news conference on 26 November to look back at half of his mandate. Only 30 Ukrainian and foreign media handpicked by the presidential office will be accredited to attend the event.

Helicopters

Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyy has said that the use of State Emergency Service helicopters to transport officials is a "common practice". He was commenting on the Ukrayinska Pravda report that Zelenskyy and his chief of staff Andriy Yermak may have used SES helicopters to get to and from a Carpathian resort.

"Departmental aviation has been used all the time, according to protocols, by the officials concerned. It is a common practice, it has been and will be," Monastyrskyy said.

National airline

President Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine will create a national airline with the participation of Airbus. The new company will be called Ukrainian National Airlines. Two more airports will be built in eastern Ukraine and another one in the west.

Tax chief

The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Mykhaylo Titarchuk as acting head of the State Tax Service instead of Yevhen Oleynikov.

Obituary

Former long-time Kyiv mayor and incumbent city councillor Oleksandr Omelchenko, 83, died today. He was recently admitted to hospital due to the coronavirus.
