According to various sources, there is a very high probability that the self-proclaimed government of the Republic of Belarus (RB) in the coming hours will decide on the participation of its Armed Forces in the war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. This decision will mean using all the forces and means of the Belarusian armed forces against our defence forces.
The only reason for this decision will be that Alexander Lukashenko is entirely dependent, particularly in terms of his security, on Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Center for Defense Strategies said.
Such a decision does not consider the peace and friendship between the peoples of Ukraine and Belarus, which lasted for centuries.
"Belarusians and Ukrainians have never fought against each other in history. We are fraternal peoples, and we cannot fight against each other. If this decision is made and executed, it will be another historical tragedy at the hands of Putin and Lukashenko. But we are killing any occupier. So let's do our best to keep Belarusians and Ukrainians fraternal despite the madness of Putin's regime," the Defense Strategies Center said in a statement.
It is emphasized that the military of Belarus may not know where they are going as their TV is full of statements about the "Nazis" in Ukraine. They may also be unaware of the enormous losses of the Russians in the war against Ukraine.
"We need to call and write to all acquaintances in Belarus, talk about it and ask not to go to war against Ukrainians. Mothers and wives - do not let your husbands die and fight against close people," - said the Center for Defense Strategies.
Belarus will hold a referendum on changes to the constitution on February 27. The referendum could consolidate Lukashenko's indefinite extension of power. One question: "Do you accept the amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus?"
Since the first day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, enemy troops have pushed into Ukrainian territory from Belarus. Today, the Ukrainian military brought down the cruise missile let out by occupiers across the capital of Ukraine from Belarus. The rocket flew to Kyiv.
Western countries warn Belarus that it will face the same sanctions as Russia for the war against Ukraine.
On the morning of February 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi issued an appeal to the citizens of Belarus, urging them to "be Belarusians, not Russians."
