Norway will supply military equipment to Ukraine

Norway will provide $226 million in humanitarian aid and military equipment to Ukraine, CNN reports.

The Norwegian government has announced measures to support our country, saying that this is "an extraordinary tranche to Ukraine, aimed to intensify the efforts of humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups, including children."

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre condemned "Russia's military attacks on Ukraine", which he said "brought massive human casualties and suffering to civilians, destroyed vital infrastructure and forced people to flee their homes".

As for military aid, everything has been agreed with Ukraine and can be sent quickly, added Norwegian Minister of Defense Roger Enoksen.

He also spoke about the plight of the Ukrainian people, who are "fighting for survival against a higher military force."

"Russia's attack on Ukraine threatens European security in a way that we have not seen since World War II. It threatens the norms, values and principles on which our democratic societies are based, ”Enoksen continued.

Norway is joining the European Union to impose "tough sanctions against Russia", the statement said. Sanctions will also be imposed on Belarus.
