Mykola Steinberg, the former chief engineer of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and former Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, has appealed to the world nuclear energy community. The reason was the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by Russian troops. Steinberg called them criminals.

I, Mykola Steinberg, the chief engineer of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant from May 1986 to March 1987, know that a nuclear catastrophe is not based on textbooks, newspaper articles, or political statements. I know that it is for children and adults, for relatives and friends, for those who are near the epicenter, and those who are thousands of kilometers away. Furthermore, I know how a peaceful atom kills friends. I know what forces and how much life costs to fight a peaceful atom that got out of control.
Tanks firing at nuclear power plants are once again a broken bottom, an immoral and barbaric attitude towards humanity in general and each human life individually. The perpetrator of this crime is a rat raised within the walls of the Soviet KGB, thus celebrating the next anniversary of the day when his ideal died, his moral teacher, the "great" Stalin.
What else does this scum need to do to make the world realize that global warming is not going to kill everyone? But this mad man will, who is surrounded by his accomplices, who have been associated with his blood and his highly spiritual fictional world, ready and able to kill children in a foreign country and fire at nuclear power plants.
He is unanimously supported by "peaceful" nuclear scientists - none of the leaders of Russia's nuclear power industry not only did condemn the criminal actions of their fuhrer, but did not even express concern about the consequences of such a criminal act! Sneaky cowards!
And where are you, the world's nuclearists? Did they hide their heads under their wings like ostriches? You know better than anyone that a nuclear tragedy is not local!
The time for political correctness has passed. Have you not understood what the games of appeasement have led to, especially Madame Merkel (by the way, where has Germany's great nuclear energy gone? Has it been replaced by Russian gas?). Where is her bright companion Macron?
Crush the snake before it's too late!
And to my friends, colleagues, power engineers of Ukraine: power engineers do not give up. You are alone now, no one will help. Endurance and calm. Professionalism. Let's stand it. And they will suffocate and die. Their fate has already been determined. Tactical victories will not save from strategic defeat.
