Russian occupiers are still in Kherson, they have taken over the Regional State Administration. Local people are saying about it the following, “It’s like we have two realities here, in Kherson. On the one side, there are Russians in the Regional State Administration. On the other, 500m from them, there is City Council and the Ukrainian mayor. The government does not make concessions, it works on vital functions of the city. In terms of mood in town, it seems that Russians are occupied by us, and not vice versa. If they had shot not in the air but people, they would have torn them on the spot,” says resident Mykola. In general, he says there is a lull in the city now.Meanwhile, the city is surrounded and has problems with food, medicine, and other stuff. There is no contact with other cities, Russian forces do not let the humanitarian deliveries through.“People are busy only with one thing: searching for food. There is a call center, where people can call if they need insulin or meals for children. In this mode, people can receive help. There are internal resources, redistribution of which feeds life,” says Mykola. There is as well almost no mobile communication, Vodafone and Kyivstar do not work, only Lifecell is running. Home WI-FI works, connection keeps through messengers.“Sometimes, we hear how Ukrainian troops are destroying them in real-time,” says Mykola. “Everyone is waiting for our Armed Forces to counterattack. You look at them, and it’s obvious that they feel they are in trouble. They expected a totally different reception in Kherson. I’ve never seen so many furious citizens at the same time. Yesterday, 5 thousand people came to the protest”.Yesterday, a big meeting against occupiers took place in Kherson. Before that, 4th March, people took to the streets to protest against Putin’s fake humanitarian aid.
