The Mayor of Hostomil Yuriy Prylypko was killed while he was delivering bread and medicine to the villagers, Hostomil village council says on Facebook.
He was shot along with his fellows Ruslan Karpenko and Ivan Zorya.
"He died as he lived. Everyone might have heard this phrase but didn't pay much attention to it. But we should have. Death exposes us to the Supreme Court and we understand what is bravado, insignificant, leaving the most valuable things. Sure, if there are any. But Prylypko understood these things," the message says.
"Nobody could have made him walk straight into the occupants' fire. He could have stayed in the shelter as many others. Nobody would have said a word? But the villagers had waited for him and believed in him. And he had made his choice. He died for his people, for Hostomil, he died as a hero. Our internal memory and gratitude to him," the Council added.
As a reminder, Hostomil is a strategic suburb area of Kyiv. Fighting for control of this area has been ongoing since the very first day of Russian invasion.
