Lviv region, which has already accepted almost 110 thousand people, will cooperate with UN on forced displacement

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression, almost 110 thousand internally displaced people have arrived in the Lviv region.

This is reported by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi on his Telegram channel. For better coordination of work with the displaced people the Lviv RMA will cooperate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, he adds.

“With the representative of the Commissioner Karolina Lindholm Billing, we agreed to begin cooperating in terms of giving accommodation to temporarily displaced people on the base of buildings in the region, but they need additional improvements for people’s comfort,” Kozytskyi explains.

The issues which will be worked on in cooperation with the UN representatives are related to giving shelter to forcibly displaced people.

According to Kozytskyi, the RMA has an idea of putting up temporary tents close to international checkpoints, where the situation is difficult due to the influx of people.

“We are thinking about putting up temporary tents in the four biggest cities of the region, where we aim to create assistance centres for displaced people similar to the one in Lviv. This would let us reduce the load on Lviv,” the head of the region says.

They have also discussed with our partners from the UN the project of constructing modular buildings for long-term stay of people who have been forced to leave their homes due to the war. This project will be coordinated by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, Kozytskyi announces.
