According to CNN, Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued recommendations about travel to Russia, asking citizens to avoid going to the Russian Federation.
Japanese citizens should "consider leaving the country by commercial flights, keeping in mind that ways to leave the country will be further restricted in the future," the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry raised the alert level to the third of four possible levels.
The decision was made after the Russian Air Transport Agency Rosaviatsya asked domestic airlines to suspend passenger flights to foreign countries temporarily, explained the Ministry.
Last week Japan raised the alert level for the Russian regions bordering Ukraine to the highest level and urged its nationals to evacuate.
