The United States do not oppose the transfer of Polish aircraft to Ukraine - White House

The USA does not refuse Poland to hand over its aircraft to Ukraine and does not block such a step, but the Polish authorities must decide. The White House speaker Jen Psaki announced this at a briefing, Radio Liberty reports.

“We are working with Poland on this issue and consulting with our other NATO allies. It is a sovereign decision of Poland. We in no way objected to Poland handing over planes to Ukraine», - said Psaki.

She added that the transfer of American aircraft to Poland instead of the Soviet ones, which Warsaw could transfer to Ukraine, will take a long time.

The speaker of the White House also noted that there were several complex issues, in particular logistics.

“There are several difficult practical questions, including how the aircraft will be transferred from Poland to Ukraine, from where they will leave, where they will land, - said Jen Psaki.- In Poland, there is an airbase, a NATO airbase. So if the plans depart from there - this can be a difficult circumstance”.

We remind that Ukraine asks its Western partners to close the airspace or provide us with aircraft and air defense equipment to protect the civilians from Russian missiles and airstrikes. Particularly, Ukraine is seeking to acquire Soviet-made aircraft, which the Polish Armed Forces use.
