Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has again called on Russian President Volodymyr Putin to engage in a dialogue. He does not agree to surrender.
Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the American TV channel ABC News.
Answering the question of whether Ukraine is ready to meet Russia's demands to end the war, namely to change the Constitution and refuse to join NATO, to recognize the Crimea as Russian territory, to recognize independence of the so-called "LNR" / "DNR", Zelenskyy said that he won't agree to surrender.
First of all, I am ready for a dialogue, but we are not ready for surrender. Because it is not about me, it is about the people who elected me. As for NATO, I cooled down to this issue after we realized that NATO is not ready to accept Ukraine. The Alliance is afraid of contradictory things and confrontation with Russia," – the President said.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine does not want to be a country that "asks for something going down on both knees, and we are not going to be such a country, I do not want to be such a president."
"What needs to be done is for Putin to start talking, to start a dialogue, instead of living in an information bubble. I think that's where he is, and he doesn't know the real situation," he added.
In this interview, Zelenskyy also warned Western countries that if the war is not stopped now, it will affect the rest of the world, because Russia will not stop at Ukraine.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was ready to meet with Vladimir Putin.
On March 7, Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians on the 12th day of the Russian invasion. He stressed that he had not left Kyiv.
