Enemy launched attack in direction of humanitarian corridor from Mariupol, - JFO headquarters

Russian troops sabotaged the evacuation of civilians from Mariupol, Donetsk region. The enemy launched an attack in the direction of the humanitarian corridor.

Joint Forces Operation’s press office reported.

"A number of measures were taken by the defenders of the city to evacuate civilians from Mariupol along a single route: roads were cleared of mines, engineering barriers were removed, and so on. However, the occupants did not release children, women and the elderly from the city. The enemy launched an attack in the direction of the humanitarian corridor," the statement read.

JFO headquarters called such actions by “Russian savages” nothing but genocide of the people of Ukraine and promise that the crimes of the Kremlin occupants will not go unpunished.

The Russian occupiers continue to shell Mariupol, thus all areas are in destruction from enemy fire, the separate special-purpose unit "Azov" reported.

"There are no streets left without broken windows, without destroyed apartments or even houses. It is also difficult to say about the casualties from Russian aggression because the bodies of the dead are buried by neighbors right in the courtyards of the residential sector," the statement read.

The city is cut from electricity, water and gas. Mariupol residents prepare food on fire next to the houses.

Mariupol was also left without communication for good. The only opportunity to learn about the situation in the country is through the military.

"The locals, of course, are interested to be informed about the security component and whether the Ukrainian army continues to defend the city. As well as about joining the defense to protect the city from the Muscovites. Defenders of Mariupol stop the enemy's attempts to break through. The struggle and unwillingness of the local population to see Russian tricolor rags on their streets are important, so the fight for Ukrainian Mariupol continues!" Azov said.

As reported on 5 March, the Russians promised to open a humanitarian corridor for the residents of Mariupol, however, they did not stop shelling and bombing.

On 6 March, it became known that buses had left for Mariupol, which has been under blockade for several days because of the Russian occupants, to evacuate civilians. Despite this, the evacuation convoy was unable to leave Mariupol due to Russian shelling.
