The evacuation of civilians from the city of Sumy continues. Sumy has suffered from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. Today, 25 evacuation buses with more than 1,000 people left Sumy, announced the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko.

According to him, today, 9 March, 6,000 civilian cars with more than 20,000 people are travelling along the humanitarian corridor.

The humanitarian corridor will be open until 21:00 p.m. today.

On 8 March Tymoshenko reported that about 5,000 people and more than 1,000 civilian cars were successfully evacuated from Sumy. Thus, he stressed, the first two waves of evacuation from this city were successful.

The first convoy of 22 buses arrived in Poltava carrying 1,100 foreign students who will continue by train to Lviv.

The second evacuation convoy of 39 buses also arrived in the Poltava region, carrying children, women, the elderly and foreign students. If desired, people will be able to stay in Poltava or continue the evacuation to Lviv.

The humanitarian corridor was also used by drivers of civilian cars.
