The second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, spoke about the Russian invasion and the intensification of shelling of civilians by the occupiers.
Kuchma's statement was published on Facebook by his spokeswoman Darka Olifer.
"In all my long life, I have never felt so much pride, pain, and anger as these days. Although sometimes it seems that our land and our hearts are burning in the fire not for 15 days, but eternity. "Russians have been bombing Kharkiv and Chernihiv, Sumy and Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Mykolayiv for eternity. For an eternity, Ukrainian children and mothers have been killed on Putin's orders ..." Kuchma said.
He said he stays in Ukraine, "because we are all on our native land, there is no other. And we will defend it together until the victory."
The second president of Ukraine called for a struggle "without division into political parties, without personal interests and old quarrels."
Kuchma emphasized that now it is necessary to get united "around the Flag, the Army, the President."
"Ukraine is not Russia. And it will never become Russia. They [Russians] will not get it. We are already winning. And we will not stop. I address rf the same way Ukrainians do this: "be cursed with the most terrible curse", - Kuchma added.
On 27 February 2022, ex-presidents of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma, and Victor Yushchenko addressed Ukrainians with support. They noted that Ukrainians "destroyed an old myth about the so-called greatness of Russia."
