On 11 March 2022, The President of Latvia, Egils Levits, met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Latvia Oleksandr Mishchenko and representatives of eight patriotic Ukrainian diaspora organizations in Latvia.

The press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia informs that the leaders of Ukrainian diaspora organizations that are members of the Confederation of Ukrainians of Latvia "Viche" attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the participant discussed the situation in Ukraine related to the war waged by Russia against our country. They also discussed the work of the Center for Assistance to Ukraine, which was founded based on the Confederation of Ukrainians of Latvia "Viche." The Head of "Viche" Valeriy Oleynichuk informed that they are organizing the collection of humanitarian aid in Latvia and sending it to the regions of Ukraine, "- the statement said.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the functioning of the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School, which currently accepts children from Ukrainian refugee families that arrived in Latvia.

Egils Levits addressed the Ukrainian community in Latvia to be an active leader in Latvia's policy of providing assistance and support to the Ukrainians.
