Ukraine is waiting for strong support and a particular signal to come out from the discussion by the leaders of the European Union of Ukraine’s application for membership.

It is very important for the state to be specific in relationships with the world and European leaders. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address.

He said he had conversations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Zelenskyy says that the anti-war coalition will soon become much stronger, and therefore, the pressure on Russia will increase for the sake of peace.

"We are really fighting. We are really fighting for our independence. For freedom and equality for everyone on the continent. Therefore, we want our partners to show the decisions that are based on reality and not on declarations or abstract considerations," he said.

The President added that he knows for sure the positions that everyone takes.

"We know exactly who is for us and who thinks that the European Union is just accounting ... Profits and expenses and nothing else. We will convince them. Life will convince them," he added.

As previously reported, on February 28, the fifth day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed an application to join the European Union through a simplified procedure. The European Parliament recommended granting Ukraine the EU member candidate status. With this status, the state can stay for decades. The European Commission will be the next to decide on granting Ukraine the EU member candidate status.

Bloomberg wrote that Germany, the Netherlands and a number of other countries insist that first the European Commission should comment on Ukraine's readiness to join the European Union before making a political decision on granting candidate status.
