Ukraine asks Group of Seven countries to initiate and implement the procedure for suspending IMF and World Bank Group operations with Russia and Belarus and terminating their membership in these organizations, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Denys Shmygal reported. “Just signed the official appeal to the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan about terminating the membership of Russia and Belarus in IMF and all World Bank organizations. These two countries violated their commitments and directed their policies to war,” Shmygal reported. He noted that Ukraine lists clear arguments in the letter and refers to numerous articles of the Agreement with IMF and by-laws of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development that Russia and Belarus violated. “No action contradicts the commitment to maintain stability and orderly economic conditions as war. That is why the IMF gives member countries the right to respond to the situation appropriately and defend their mandate,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed.
