The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Borys Johnson told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that he was convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to the situation around the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

This was reported by the press service of the British government.

"The prime minister has said that President Putin's reckless actions could now threaten the security of the whole of Europe. He said Britain would do everything possible to prevent the situation from getting worse. Johnson said that he would seek an emergency UN Security Council meeting in the coming hours and that the United Kingdom would immediately raise the issue with Russia and its close partners," the report informs.

It is noted that both leaders demand that Russia stop the attack on the power plant immediately and allow unimpeded access of emergency services to the power plant. Also, in their opinion, a ceasefire is crucial.

Earlier today, the Ukrainian head of state recorded a video message about the shelling by the Russian military and the fire at Zaporizhzhya NPP and called on world leaders to stop Russia.

"Russia is the first country in the world to shell an NPP. A possible explosion will lead to the death of Europe," Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes.
