President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that "a global anti-Putin coalition has been formed and is functioning."

He wrote about this on his Twitter account, reacting to today's vote of the General Assembly.

"I appreciate the approval of the UN General Assembly by an unprecedented majority of resolutions urging Russia to stop the treacherous attack on Ukraine immediately. I am grateful to everyone and every country that voted for the resolution. You have chosen the right side of history," said the President.

Zelenskyy stressed that "the devastating results of the vote against the aggressor convincingly show that the global anti-Putin coalition has been formed and is functioning."

Interfax-Ukraine reported that one hundred forty-one states voted in favour of a resolution calling on Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine and end the war. Five countries opposed, 35 countries abstained. Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria and Eritrea opposed it.

On 26 February, the Russian Federation blocked the UN resolution condemning Russia's military attack on Ukraine.

On 1 March, representatives of Europe and other allies staged a démarche to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his online speech at the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
