The story of "Yanukovych in Minsk" shows Russia's total ignorance of the real mood in Ukraine. Mykhailo Podoliak, advisor to the chief of the President’s office, responded to the news that Russia would try to declare Viktor Yanukovych "president of Ukraine" from Belarus.

"A complete lack of understanding of the true situation in the country. The Russians have never had any objective analysis - hence such deadly decisions. Among these - propaganda stories about the "mass meeting of Russian tanks with flowers." In fact, there have been none, not even isolated "meetings" - only hatred, the most brutal destruction of these same tanks and even mass attempts to stop armored vehicles with their bodies. They mistakenly hoped that they would be treated well in a country that hates any invaders. And from the same line - the confidence of the Russian elites that hundreds of thousands of armies of nationalists are marching through our streets," Podoliak said.

At the same time, he called Yanukovych a political corpse that is completely incompatible with the Ukrainian context.

“The second aspect of this strange story is that Yanukovych is an absolute "political corpse." He is such an old outsider with a toxic reputation that the mention of his name sounds even more defiant. Undoubtedly, it will provoke even greater resistance. As will, by the way, the names of Medvedchuk and Muraev. Quite negative characters with a negative reputation. It's not even about the total lack of managerial skills and the boundless stupidity of these people. And about their complete incompatibility with the Ukrainian context," said the advisor to the chief of the President’s office.

We will remind readers, today it was reported that the Kremlin is preparing to declare Victor Yanukovych as "the president of Ukraine" from Belarus. He was supposed to address the appeal. Earlier, before the war, the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that among the candidates for the post of "President of Ukraine" Russia was also considering former People's Deputy from the Opposition Platform For Life (OPFL) Eugene Muraev.
