The Adviser to the Head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak believes that the meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia may take place in the near future. He announced this on a telethon on Sunday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to Podoliak, the Ukrainian side is doing everything to make this meeting happen as soon as possible.
“I don't think we will wait any longer for it to happen. I'm not ready to say that this meeting may take place soon. In a day, two, three - no. It will take some time, but we will try to make it happen as soon as possible because we are fighting for every person's life. We want them not to be killed; we want our infrastructure not to be destroyed, " Podoliak said.
According to him, Ukraine is currently searching for a place for negotiations between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia in terms of security guarantees and the development of a package of agreements that will consider crucial positions for Ukraine.
"Once they are worked out and pre-agreed, then the presidents will be able to meet and work out the final provisions of the peace treaty," he said. Podoliak also added that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would not sign any ineffective and unfavorable peace treaties for Ukraine; the Russian side already expressed readiness for a direct inter-presidential meeting.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Israel and Jerusalem a possible meeting place with the Russian President to end the war. He also believes that Israel could be a party to the agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
