Polish Academy of Sciences nominated Serhiy Zhadan for Nobel Prize

The Polish Academy of Sciences has nominated writer Serhiy Zhadan for the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is stated on the website of the Committee of Literary Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

"Zhadan is one of the most outstanding poets of Ukraine, a wonderful prose writer, who is translated and awarded in the world - in our opinion, he is a writer of the Nobel Prize. His voice as a poet has been of special significance to Ukrainians for many years. Free Ukraine largely speaks and thinks with the words of Zhadan, listens carefully to them. Today the poet is in his city of Kharkiv. And he is fighting, "the committee said in a statement.

The statement also unanimously condemned Russia's armed attack on Ukraine. "The Kremlin's aggressive actions against the Ukrainian people and Ukraine have no justification," Polish writers emphasize. They emphasize that they will provide temporary aid to Ukrainians - both in Poland and in Ukraine. In particular, Polish writers intend to create a space in Poland in which scientists from Ukraine could temporarily continue their scientific work. "In our opinion, Polish universities should help build such a space," the statement said.

Last week attacks by the Russian troops damaged the house «Word», located in Kharkiv. Writer Serhiy Zhadan was the first to write about this on his Facebook page.
