Almost 12bn hryvnyas have already been raised to support the Ukrainian army and humanitarian aid - the NBU

The official website of the National Bank of Ukraine reported that almost 12bn hryvnyas have already been raised to support the Ukrainian army and humanitarian aid. 

Citizens and enterprises of Ukraine transferred the funds. The international community also assisted.

“As of 14 March 2022, citizens and businesses in Ukraine and the international community transferred the sum equivalent to more than 11.6bn hryvnyas to the special account of the NBU. The funds came from the USA, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, China, France, Canada and many other countries of the world,” the NBU noted.

In particular, the money sum equivalent to almost 3.4bn hryvnyas came from abroad in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, Australian dollars).

Currently, the balance on the special account is about 145.8m hryvnyas.

From the funds received on the special account, the National Bank has already transferred about 11.5bn hryvnyas for the needs of the military:

for the needs of the National Guard of Ukraine - in total, 950m hryvnyas (26 February 2022 - 450m hryvnyas; 6 March 2022 - 500m hryvnyas);

for the needs of the National Police of Ukraine - in total, 1,650m hryvnyas (28 February 2022 - 150m hryvnyas; 3 March 2022 - 700m hryvnyas; 6 March 2022 - 800m hryvnyas);

for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - in total, 8,097.4m hryvnyas (28 February 2022 - 182.3m hryvnyas; 1 March 2022 - 843m hryvnyas; 2 March 2022 - 1,999.3m hryvnyas; 4 March 2022 - 920m hryvnyas; 5 March 2022 - 341.2m hryvnyas, 7 March 2022 - 1,843m hryvnyas; 8 March 2022 - 597.9m hryvnyas; 9 March 2022 - 444.5m hryvnyas, 11 March 2022 - 926.2m hryvnyas);

for the needs of the State Border Guard Service - in total, 826.2m hryvnyas (3 March 2022 - 420m hryvnyas; 11 March 2022 - 300m hryvnyas; 12 March 2022 - 106.2m hryvnyas). 

As of 14 March 2022, a total of 257.6m hryvnyas was transferred to the account for humanitarian needs. More than 128m hryvnyas in equivalent came from abroad in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds).

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is the recipient and administrator of the funds received on the account opened by the National Bank for humanitarian purposes from Ukraine and abroad.
