Occupants took hostage staff, patients of Mariupol hospital

Russian troops took over the Mariupol Regional Intensive Care Hospital on the morning of 14 March.

According to the Media Initiative for Human Rights, this was reported by Mariupol residents through the organization's hotline.

The staff and patients of the hospital are held hostage. According to the witness, the Russians are forcing other civilians into the building. At the same time, they are firing at the positions of the Ukrainian army from the windows of the hospital, trying to provoke fire in response.

According to an eyewitness, the Russian military does not release anyone from the hospital, threatening to shoot. Patients who risked escape from captivity returned with bullet wounds.

"The Media Initiative for Human Rights calls on the international community to take all possible measures to stop the ongoing war crime in the Russian Federation and to release doctors, patients and civilians held hostage by the Russian army and used as human shields," the statement read.

As reported earlier, false information is being spread on the Internet on the number of victims in Mariupol as a result of attacks on the city by the Russian occupants. Official and confirmed information as of the end of 14 March is 2,357 dead Mariupol residents.
