Russia killed 103 Ukrainian children since the war started

Every day, at least 5 children die after the Russian attacks. As of 16 March, they killed 103 children and wounded more than 100 kids. General Prosecutors Office shared these statistics.

Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Zhytomyr oblasts are the most affected regions.

Russian attacks led to the destruction of 400 educational facilities (59 of them were demolished) around the country: 119 facilities in Donetsk, 50 in Kharkiv, 30 in Mykolaiv, 28 - Sumy, 35 - Kyiv, 21 - Kherson oblasts, and 24 in Kyiv city.

Russia targeted 11 healthcare facilities and 3 rehabilitation centers (including facilities for children with disabilities). 

"Those data is preliminary, as it is impossible to reach most of the affected territories due to heavy fighting," - added in the Prosecutor's Office. 

Iryna Venediktova, the General Prosecutor, wrote to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Violence against Children. In her address, she asks for cooperation in documenting and responding to violence against children in the context of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine within the framework of Article 45 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Prosecutor General called on the specialized UN agencies to decide as soon as possible to deploy a mission to assess violations of children's rights in the context of the Russian war in Ukraine.

During the past week, Ramzan Kadyrov's militants wanted to seize an orphanage to blackmail the Ukrainian authorities in the Kyiv region.
