A multi-story building In Kyiv got damaged and caught fire after the fall of the remains of a downed rocket. State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. In total, two houses were damaged, said the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk on Facebook.
"As a result of a missile strike in the city, two multi-story residential buildings in Darnytskyi district were damaged. According to preliminary data, one person died, four were injured, two of them were hospitalized. Rescuers and medics continue to work on the spot," Povoroznyk said.
The report of a fire and damage to a residential building in the Darnytskyi district was received at 5:02 PM.
"Firefighters from the nearest fire and rescue units immediately arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers found that due to the fall of the remains of the downed missile, the structures of the building on the 16th and technical floors were destroyed, as well as a fire in the apartment on the 16th floor," the statement reads.
The fire in an area of 20 square meters was eliminated at 5:49.
Rescuers evacuated residents from the 11th and upper floors of the building and are carrying out emergency rescue work to dismantle structures and search for people. 10 units of basic and special fire and rescue equipment, as well as 60 personnel, are involved on the spot.
