Ukrainian President to address the German Parliament today

"Russian war crimes do not stop. The Russian economy is still able to support its military machine."

Ukrainian President to address the German Parliament today

On Thursday, March 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will speak in front of the Parliament of Germany, he said in a video address.

"On Thursday morning I will speak in front of the German parliament. I will fight for more significant support for Ukraine and tougher pressure on Russia. All for our common victory and our peace," said the President.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian authorities are already working on the post-war rehabilitation programs.

"I promise to every Ukrainian who lost their home or apartment in shelling or combat that the state will rebuild everything. We will rebuild by ourselves. I am confident that we will quickly rebuild our country, no matter the cost. We will do a historic rebuilding, a project that will inspire the whole world in the same way as our fight for freedom and Ukraine," stated the President.

He said that he'd spoken with the Turkish President Recep Erdogan and the Canadian Prime-Minister Justin Trudeau during the day. Both agreed on new steps towards peace in our country. In a conversation with the Prime-Minister of Ireland Micheál Martin Zelenskyy gave his condolences over the killing of the journalist and Irish citizen Pierre Zakrzewski.

"I also spoke with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. We agreed on support to our temporarily displaced citizens," added Zelenskyy.

The President said that Ukraine receives a lot of support from the world, but the war does not stop.

"Russia's war crimes do not stop, and the Russian economy can still support its military machine. Therefore, we need new sanctions against Russia. The world must recognize Russia officially as a terrorist state. More importantly, Ukraine must receive more support than it receives now: air defense systems, aircraft, enough lethal weapons and ammunition to stop the occupiers," emphasized Zelenskyy.

"We can no longer trust existing institutions. We can't expect bureaucracies in international organizations to change so quickly. Therefore, we must look for other guarantees and create new instruments. We must engage those who are brave and do what is just. We've already proven that we can do historic things. It is not simply our resistance, not just a defense."

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy spoke in front of the U.S. Congress. He asked again to close the Ukrainian sky and proposed to create an international coalition to coordinate emergency support to the countries at war or in crisis.
