Ukraine does not intend to raise electricity prices for the population during the war unleashed by Russia, said Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko.
"Of course, no one will raise tariffs. I think we will now develop a certain algorithm that would help all generations to go through this period smoothly," Herman Halushchenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
He noted that he intended to maintain the current model of special obligations for supplying the population in the electricity market, although the decline in the calculation levels of electricity bills, including those from household consumers, has affected the generation of PJSC Ukrhydroenergo and National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine "Energoatom" that participates in PSO. "
"There are questions about how to balance it all. We are working on it. There are radical ideas, but I favor maintaining the existing mechanism," the minister said.
According to Halushchenko, the calculation level of payments in the electricity market has fallen by 30% since the beginning of the war.
The current model of financial PSO is designed to work for the period from October 1, 2021 to April 31, 2022. According to this model, Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo have the right to sell the resource on the market and compensate the tariffs for the population at the expense of revenues from universal service providers (USP). As part of the implementation of the new PSO model for clients with a consumption of 250 kWh / month, a lower tariff was set - 1.44 hryvnyas / kWh. The Ministry of Energy says that there are about 80% of such consumers in the country. For the rest, the previously established tariff of 1.68 hryvnias / kWh applies
