The unification of the Ukrainian and European energy systems has been completed. Ukraine has become a member of the “European Energy Union” as announced on Twitter by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Now our electricity flows in the EU, and vice versa,” the president said.
He thanked EU members and personally the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
The Prime Minister Denis Shmygal added in the Telegram that the Ukrainian energy system has been synchronized with the ENTSO-E Continental European energy network today.
"This is the same ‘energy visa-free regime’ with the European Union that we have been working on for years. On the day of the war was waged by Russia, we finally disconnected from the energy system of the aggressor country and Belarus,” he said.
Now Ukraine will be able to receive electricity and save the energy system even in the event of further damage by the aggressor to our energy infrastructure.

A year ago, Ukraine planned to disconnect from the energy systems of Russia and Belarus in 2022 and work separately. At midnight on 24 February, Ukraine disconnected its power grid from Russia. Despite the fact that on the same day Russia invaded Ukraine in large-scale attack, testing of the power system for operation in isolated mode was successful.
