The American company Norton will not accept new orders from Russia due to "recent events" and export control rules. Users from Russia and Belarus have already lost the ability to reinstall and update previous antivirus purchases; it is not possible to connect to the Norton server during the program's registration.
The Czech company Avast also stopped selling their products to Russian and Belarusian customers, "in support of the Ukrainian people".
"We immediately cut off all our products from Russia and Belarus and suspended all marketing and sales operations in those countries," the company said in a statement. “We are horrified by Russia's aggression against the Ukraine, where the lives and livelihoods of innocent people are under severe threat, and where all freedoms have been hit. Our business, which brings in about 2.5m dollars tax annually from sales to the Russian government alone, will in no way participate in Russia's actions. Therefore, the suspension of our business in Russia and Belarus is right, because we condemn Russia's actions in the Ukraine".
The company also provided an opportunity for Ukrainian users to receive premium products for free.
Slovak company Eset also announced the suspension of sales of new licenses for its products in Russia and Belarus. All previously purchased licenses will be fully operational, and customers can renew them without restrictions.
The company also announced that it would provide humanitarian support to the citizens of Ukraine in the amount of 500 thousand euros.
"We are also updating all our Ukrainian business customers to our top-class product free of charge and are extending licenses that are about to expire for all business and consumer customers in the country at no cost.” Eset said.
