Homeowners who have sheltered Ukrainians that have left the war zone will receive approximately 450 hryvnias per month per person to reimburse utility costs.
This was reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
The government has developed a social package to support IDPs (internally displaced people), which will regulate social security issues, employment, and the accommodation of people who have lost or were forced to leave their homes.
"As a result, homeowners who shelter IDPs for free will receive state support of about 450 hryvnias per month for each person sheltered, regardless of his/her age, to reimburse utility costs," said the Minister of Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The criteria to receive compensation is the following:
People who have housing and are ready to provide shelter must inform the local authorities of their readiness to accept IDPs. To do this, one must apply to the local authorities and provide the necessary information. One also can submit this information through the website "Prykhystok" ["Shelter"], and in the future, it will be possible to do it through the "Dia" application.
Local authorities will form a register of housing available for accommodation. This is to help as many people as possible. However, the ministry stressed that the resettlement would only occur if the owners agreed.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told about three support stages of citizens who have lost homes and jobs because of the war.
According to the UN, the number of victims of the war in Ukraine has reached 18 million, out of which 6.7 million are internally displaced people.
